Program Notes
I.  Cirrus

Toy Grand Piano, Midi Toy Piano, live electronics

“Cirrus” alternates between the free exploration of tone color and repetitive rhythmic sections on the Toy Grand Piano and Midi Toy Piano.  The live sampling creates mirrors and
shadings, interactin g with the part played by the pianist.

II.  Feldmanesque

A ten voiced layering of long melodic and rhythmic fragments in all three instruments is created by recording each voice consequetively  and playing them simultaneously with various realtime permutations.  The music is a kind of static sound mobile,
slowly turning on itself.

III.  Fieldsmove

The process used in movement II is used in a more linear mode in ‘Fieldsmove’, with a series of 20 short recordings of fast notes in the piano, sampled and played back as the music moves from high to low registers.  The piece ends with a short audio summary of fieldsmove adding some historical commentary along the way.

This piece is a commission from the Amsterdam Art Fund/ Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst and was supported by STEIM.
